Nutritional Therapy For Menopause

Hormones are highly complex at the best of times. But even more so when you reach menopausal years. It can feel like you no longer understand anything about your body or mind, and everything from nutrition to lifestyle can feel overwhelming.

Nutritional Therapy can help balance your blood sugar, which can help lower anxiety and reduce (or hopefully remove) some of the symptoms such as hot flashes, low mood and insomnia.

During your appointments and programming, we can help you understand your body. We will talk about what nutrients you should focus on and when to eat them. Supplements can improve how you break down hormones and increase levels of certain minerals like magnesium or essential fatty acids to reduce inflammation.  A personalised consultation is one of the tools that can help turn around your menopause and help you feel confident and in control.

About Becs

Becs has been interested in food from an early age. She spent a lot of time cooking with her mum but had no idea how different foods played a role in health until she reached her 20's. Becs started to suffer from debilitating migraines, very low energy and blemished skin. Doctors could not find a solution, so Becs bought a book and totally changed her diet overnight. She doesn't recommend this approach, and it was pretty hard to do. But it worked! She felt different, inspired and wanted to share her transformation with the world! After telling friends and family – who were less enthusiastic, she decided to study Nutrition instead. Food really is medicine and is a passion that Becs continues to love. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and educating people to see food as so much more than just a meal. It's what feeds and hydrates your inner world so that you can enjoy the outer world around you.

What Becs Does

As a nutritional therapist, I work with my clients to help them understand how food can be used as medicine. I use a personalised approach to understand your health history, which builds a picture of your current position. I then use all this information, and from listening to your goals, I work out a nutritional plan for you to begin with.

Ideally, I like to work with clients over a minimum of 3 months, as changes do not happen overnight. It is important to understand that not everyone responds in the same way. So using follow up appointments every 2-4 weeks, I can understand how your body reacts to nutritional changes and adjust your plan accordingly. Your education in this process is the key to your success. Understanding and seeing the results helps motivate you to learn and do more. Food is a massive factor that can often be overlooked. Still, it can make such a difference in how the body manages hormones, supports your microbiome's life, and improves balance to mental and emotional health. No one diet fits everyone, and I don't believe that one diet fits each of us for life. Our bodies change as time moves on, and we need to be aware of how different nutrients are required at these changing stages. As much as I can, I work with food, but I also utilise supplements to help raise nutrient levels and bring support where needed. I will also suggest functional testing (extra cost) for a stool or hormone analysis with private laboratories in the UK. Sometimes we need a little bit more information to really achieve optimal health, which allows a deeper dive into the workings of these complex systems. Nutritional Therapy aims to help the body function more efficiently, allowing the nutrients we need to be readily available for our optimum health.
